Years ago I met Mr. Frank Cichanowicz from Briarcliff Landscaping and Sod Farms. Frank, a large gregarious person, developed a fortune by acquiring large expanses of property on the North Fork. Frank knew everyone. He invited me one day to see his new house that was being constructed by a builder “who cares and knows what he is doing”. Frank was local and knew who to select and maybe more important who to stay away from. He introduced me to Fred Seifert of Seifert construction. I liked what I saw. Small stuff, like details of a chimney or finished oak panels- it all looked a bit better without being over the top false. Five years later I was ready to construct. I had kept Seifert’s card and would occasionally inquire about his work. I hired him. We built a 3000 foot architecturally designed house. Fred’s sense of quality, balance, and taste are excellent. There were many times I trusted his judgment over the architects. We never had a dispute of any sort about quality or money. Questions that arose were always answered timely and honestly. Fred built a solid no problem residence without any hair pulling. In summation, I head a large national urban development company with billions in ongoing projects. We try to engage people with integrity throughout the United States. Seifert is the best in class!

We decided to build with Seifert Construction because they came highly recommended to us by personal friends who had built a house with them. Building our 6500 sq ft home was a huge undertaking. We were living in Florida during most of the construction and so we had to rely on Fred Seifert for many aspects of the project. Fred’s got a great eye and knows what works and what will not work. He made suggestions on things like floors, windows, details on trim moldings and lighting. He knew when things needed to be changed and when things were exactly right! One of the more impressive things about this experience was how well the Seiferts worked with our architect, which can sometimes be a difficult relationship. While building the house, they came up with ideas and changes that enhanced the layout and successfully collaborated with the architect to make it happen.
Their commitment didn’t stop when our home was done. They continue to be available to follow up on any issues we might have to fine tune the house. As we look around our new home, we are reminded of how many people made this possible. The Seiferts are at the top of the list. Starting with your amazingly clean demolition team and all the way through the project, we’re still moved to tears by your dedication to the job. And we can still barely believe that the work was done so quickly, especially when we think back on the cold, damp, miserable days when you worked seven days a week! Our twin goals of a gorgeous project done incredibly fast were more than met by Seifert Construction. We’d be remiss not to point out several details that highlight Seifert’s quality work. We had such particular needs for our ceiling — we wanted to offer soaring space with concert-hall-quality acoustics — and your patience in guiding us to the correct acoustic materials, ceiling tiles and placement of trim allowed us to meet our goals. The clock was ticking, but you never pushed our needs and questions aside. You saw the job not just through the eyes of master craftspeople but through the eyes of our bar and restaurant guests, and you gently guided us to make the right choices to best serve everyone who comes to Legends. The sliding library ladder in the bar is another example of your design and construction genius. Not only is it a stunning detail, it’s exactly the sort of feature that pleases our staff as well as our customers. It elevates the feel of the bar without making it seem stuffy. The new entryway also demonstrates how your team changed the mood of the restaurant without changing the essence of Legends as a comfortable yet elegant restaurant. We wish you could hear some of the compliments we get as soon as guests step through the front door. Our new dining room gets so much praise as well! Our guests particularly love the large windows, which make the room feel large and airy yet still cozy. We’re glad we heeded your gentle prodding to put aside our financial misgivings and update the dining room; compliments from our guests are proof that we were right to follow your lead. We are truly blessed to have selected you for this daunting job! Your entire team exceeded our dreams, and now January 11 is no longer just the anniversary of a terrible snowstorm, but the anniversary of our rebirth as a new Legends. With love and gratitude!

We had a great experience working with Fred and John to build our Jamesport home from the ground up. While every construction project can have complications, the Seiferts were able to guide ours from a smooth start to a spectacular finish. We really felt as if we were taken care of every step of the way! The end result is a stunning home which is so well built and a joy to be in. The Seiferts worked well with the whole design team and we look forward to working with them more in the future.

John Seifert (with the full support and exemplary partnership with his brother Fred) have just completed the construction of our dream house. Our experience was so positive, pleasant and uplifting that we are somewhat sad that construction is over. My wife told John seriously: ” please keep your sign on the road as long as possible, it means a lot to us”. I have to confess that originally, I did not want to build from scratch on an empty lot; I was concerned it will be too stressful and I will not be able to get the quality I wished while busy with my responsibility at a cancer center 100 miles away. I had my share of mixed experiences and frustrations with constructions and renovations in the past. Yet, we wanted to have a modern, uncompromising, high-quality house to match our taste and we could not find anything reasonable for sale in the North Fork. Luckily, we found an available empty lot.
My concerns evaporated quickly after several meetings with the Seiferts, and after visiting houses they built and interviewing some of the owners. All were expressing their praise of the Seifert brothers beyond our expectations.
Fred and John helped us from the very beginning, recommended potential architects with modern construction experience and later worked in full harmony with our architect John Berg and his staff. We consulted with them throughout the design process, with their experience and sound advice we avoided ideas and materials that could have made our budget unmanageable. We were so convinced that the Seifert brothers are the right choice for our project that we did not even wish to bid. We were not disappointed; the budget discussions were fair and constructive and we felt that we will be getting the best for our budget.
During the quickly flying months of construction, we had nothing but very favorable experience. John Seifert had many great ideas for better space use, improvements on design and solved smoothly any unpredictable issues that normally emerge during construction. John is a master coordinator of his team, highly respected by his experienced sub-contractors and leads by example. Both John and Fred helped with our choices from outside manufacturers, worked in harmony with companies from California to Virginia to adopt and coordinate our orders and its safe delivery and perfect installation in a timely fashion. The choice of sub-contractors is critical and luckily the Seiferts teams have been working with them for years, and the relationships go back beyond one generation; real pros that proved highly responsive to any change or additional challenge. They were top choices. It made a big difference. Multiple town inspections went smoothly and many professional visitors complimented the quality of construction and finishing.
Even though the Seiferts have been building for many years, we felt only enthusiasm for our own project and total personal dedication, not just like another job on the list. we have many examples, but observing John himself (with Fred’s sons as assistants) operating a large forklift to unload a challenging delivery of gigantic glass door units from San Diego was very telling. We experienced John’s dedication and calming approach multiple times. Only recently, we had no power when a generator did not kick in during a storm. John left home during dinner time to come and restore power. I have multiple similar stories, but this is the time to summarize. Engaging the Seiferts and working directly with John have proven to be our best and most important decision. It has made a process I was very concerned about, pleasant, uplifting and truly unforgettable; and on top it- we are now enjoying the perfect house of our dreams.

I would say my wife Lori and I are pretty seasoned when it comes to home construction, with our house in Southold the fourth home we have renovated. Admittedly, this was a total reconstruction, involving a 12+ month commitment. We conducted an extensive interview process, and Seifert Construction stood out from the beginning, both from their detailed proposal and competitive pricing, but equally as important, how Fred and John personally took responsibility for the management of each and every project. They emphasized how Seifert is a family owned and run business, and as neighbors to many of the people whose projects they undertake, honesty, integrity, and customer satisfaction are of paramount importance. This really resonated with Lori and I, as we knew, since Southold is our second home and we would frequently be inaccessible, we would need to rely heavily on Seifert’s professional recommendation and guidance as situations arose.
We can state unequivocally, that every aspect of our project, from breaking ground to the handing over of new keys, was personally managed by John and Fred. Their guidance was invaluable throughout every phase of the project, ensuring the plans ultimately matched the final product. I can’t tell you the number of times they recommended subtle changes to more effectively meet the aesthetics we sought, and in many cases, as a more cost-effective option. They are not only two of the most professional individuals we have had the pleasure of working with, who delivered a level of quality and craftsmanship that takes our breath away every time we are in our home, but they are also two of the kindest, most sincere, and genuine individuals, that we now have the good fortune of calling friends. Exceeding expectations is a lofty goal for such a large project over an extended time period, but that’s exactly what John and Fred delivered. We could not provide a more emphatic and honest recommendation for Seifert Construction.
